Home Health Care & Transportation
At Beyond the Walls, our personal care services include a wide spectrum of activities, including assisting the elderly with activities of daily living. These range from shopping, cooking, and housekeeping to getting dressed, showering, and medication reminders. We serve as an intermediary between clients and their medical providers, helping them schedule appointments and communicate their needs with their medical team. Beyond The Walls ensures that all employees are properly trained with appropriate certification prior to providing hands-on care to our clients.
For our clients without a family support system, some form of personal care services are necessary to facilitate a safe and healthy transition as they learn to navigate their day-to-day lives with certain limitations. We work with clients and their families to ensure they can afford appropriate care. Some of our clients are able to cover the costs of private care services, while others are eligible for Medicaid, Medicare, and waiver services.
Housing
We provide housing services, which includes support securing access to affordable housing for the vulnerable populations that we serve. We help clients apply for and secure Section 8 Housing Vouchers, which allow low-income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities to afford rental housing in the private market.
These are just a few of the services offered by Beyond the Walls to ensure access to suitable and affordable housing. Other important services include a roster of occupational and physical therapists who specialize in making recommendations to clients on adaptations they can make to their living space to minimize their limitations.
Guardianship
At Beyond the Walls, we also provide Guardianship services. Our main purpose of Guardianship is to ensure the safety and well-being and to prevent the exploitation of vulnerable individuals. This applies to individuals who, for a range of reasons, are deemed incapable of making sound decisions for themselves. Guardianship is obtained through a court proceeding and granted by a judge.
Independent Living & Food Assistance
For clients who live alone or without a consistent family support system, it can be difficult to maintain conditions for independent living and a healthy diet that ensures their caloric needs. Through our work, we have found that for many clients, it can be difficult not only to afford quality food on limited incomes, but decreased mobility also makes it nearly impossible for them to have access to groceries.
At Beyond the Walls, we provide various services to address these needs. In order to ensure that the elderly receive adequate and proper nutrition, there a number of great government programs and food banks that provide weekly delivery of nutritious food. We coordinate with clients to make sure they are able to take advantage of such programs, including the Elderly Nutrition Program, area food banks, and other programs for which they qualify.
